GreenSpade started greening the Lion City several decades ago. The task has grown increasingly challenging as the company tackles trees that are getting taller over time. In some instances, manual labour became necessary due to limitations of existing cranes reaching the required heights. Workers had to ascend in a bucket attached to the crane to perform their duties, posing risks to both individuals and nearby properties in the event of a crane mishap.
Through the partnership with BATU, GreenSpade explored Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) initiatives and procured longer cranes capable of reaching heights up to 33 metres. These new cranes are equipped with high performance stability control (HSPC) function, which prevents overloading and potential toppling of the crane.
The deployment of these extended cranes in February 2023 has significantly improved the safety of the working environment of the workers.
